A Tale of 3 Curios, Part 1

I want to Thank Tammy over at One More Time Events for featuring my post, New Things on the Front Porch and Yard, August Update, from last week's Share It One More Time Party!!

You may remember some time ago, I mentioned that my dear neighbor Ellie had to be placed in a nursing home due to Alzheimer's and that both of her sons do not live locally so Joe and I are caring for Ellie's house as far as cutting the grass, checking to make sure there are no plumbing issues, airing it out every now and then, etc.

The sons will be selling the house and everything in it eventually but told me that I could have 3 Curios that I wanted to buy. They would not take any money as we are watching the house for them.....

Pictures of 2 of the Curios are above. .....

The other has yet to be brought over and will go in my Guest Bedroom. It is a corner Curio in a light oak finish.

I decided to put the 2 matching Curios on the Dining Room because I felt that they would really add to the Victorian Look that I have going on in my home and especially so in the Dining Room!!

I finally got rid of the Stereo System that we have had for 36 years even though my oldest son kept telling us to keep it because they do not make them like that anymore.......

But if you seldom use it, what good is it anyway, right???

I like this look MUCH better!!

This wall shelf was on the wall in the corner.....

I put the items displayed on this shelf in each of the Curios but have yet to find a new home for the shelf but give me time!! LOL!!

The Stereo System found a good home at one of my neighbors ,who recently acquired an album collection and I also gave him most of mine!!

So in it's place is the larger of the 2 Curios.........

This is the one that I want to share with you today and I will show you the other in my next post......

I had such fun deciding what to display in it!!

And on top of it too!!

The Cherub Planter is actually a garden one bought on Clearance at Wegman's and you may remember the grapes from the Florist Shop Liquidation Sale that I went to a few weeks back!!

The picture on the wall was once over here on the other side of the Dining Room where the other Curio now is.......

The fan was bought at The Dollar Tree and the dish was a gift.....

So that is one of my "new" Curio's.........

Also because of the curio being in this corner, I had to come up with a different way of displaying my Funeral basket that I decorate for every Season and holiday.

I still have to re- stain this little stand to match the curio. It is actually a little stool that my MIL was able to take from her church when it closed to consolidate with several other Catholic Churches in her town. I was used for the younger altar servers to sit on!!!

There was only a light in the top half of the Curio and not in the bottom half.

Joe found these at Lowe's......

You get 3 in a pack for $14.99.......

I bought 3 packs and a few other items and used a coupon for $10.00 off a $50.00 purchase!!

They come with a double sided sticky pad but I have found that after a while this may give way so I used a dab of E 600 Glue to adhere them to the curios and hutchs where I have placed them.

The bottom half of the puck just turns so you can take it off to replace the batteries.

You can see how wonderful they work.......

I have used them under my Kitchen Cabinets, several other Hutches and in the other Curio too as there was no light in that one either.......

I was Laboring on the weekend as Sunday night is my Holiday to work but I was off on Monday night and
the kids came over for a little Holiday celebration. We always enjoy time spent with our family!!

I am participating as a vendor in a Craft Fair in 2 weeks so I will be very busy making Fall and Halloween wreaths.....

Because of this, I have a few posts lined up and ready to post and I will also be holding off on Fall decorating until this Craft Fair is over.........
